Site supervisor

Paris and project sites in France - Permanent, fixed-term or freelance contract

Job description

As Site Supervisor, you run the field on the installation and commissioning of Epyr units: subcontractor management, execution schedule, acceptance of works, commissioning support and, above all, safety.

The role is both hands-on and coordination. You roll up your sleeves when needed (forklift, pallets, shimming, troubleshooting) and you coordinate 5 to 10 people from several companies every day, without any reporting line: your lever is command of the rules and the authority to stop an unsafe task.

You are autonomous on site and represent Epyr towards the client. The Epyr project manager owns the budget, the contract and the client relationship: day-to-day decisions are yours, and you know which ones to escalate.

Expect 3 to 6 months on site per project, 5 days a week, with every weekend at home. Travel and accommodation are covered, anywhere in France.

Why join Epyr's Industrialization team

  • Impact. Every unit you assemble and start up replaces gas with low-carbon electricity at a real industrial site.

  • A rare skill set. Very few people in France have assembled and started up a high-temperature TES unit. After two projects, you will be one of them.

  • Funded skills development. Certifications and CACES covered, commissioning training and a clear path towards supervision.

  • Fair field conditions. Weekends at home, accommodation and meals covered, travel and site allowances.

  • Scale-up momentum. A €15M Series A (July 2026) funds industrialization and the ambition of a fleet of units in France and Europe.

  • A small, senior team. Direct access to the founders, and field feedback that genuinely changes the design of the next units.

Scope & responsibilities

1) Prepare and run the site, hands-on

  • Prepare the site set-up: storage, access, temporary utilities, lifting, site facilities.

  • Receive and check equipment delivered on site, and report transport damage.

  • Organize storage, including for sensitive components (refractories, electrical cabinets, instrumentation).

  • Carry out routine handling yourself (CACES) and lend a hand when it is the most efficient option.

2) Manage subcontractors and keep to the schedule

  • Check contractors' document compliance before intervention: prevention plan, PPSPS, certifications.

  • Assign daily tasks, check progress and compliance with drawings.

  • Bring back on track a contractor drifting on staffing, quality, safety or schedule.

  • Break down the overall schedule into weekly and daily schedules, and propose recovery plans in case of contingencies.

  • Run the daily site meeting and produce the progress report.

  • Escalate without delay to the Epyr project manager anything affecting milestones, cost, scope or design.

3) Safety, quality and acceptance of works

  • Enforce the prevention plan, site protocols and Epyr rules.

  • Run risk analyses and handle dangerous situations and near misses.

  • Hold the hold points and inspections of the quality plan: dimensional, welds, pressure tests, electrical, leak tests.

  • Accept the works, follow the punch list until items are closed and compile the as-built documentation.

4) Manage the site interface and support commissioning

  • Maintain the daily interface with the client's maintenance, new works, HSE and production departments.

  • Anticipate lockouts, hot work permits and production shutdowns, especially during shutdown windows.

  • Prepare and assist cold tests, then support Epyr engineers during hot and performance tests.

  • Report field lessons learned to Epyr's design and standards.

Career path

  • Months 0 to 18: you run the site and build your commissioning skills alongside the process engineers.

  • Months 18 to 36: you lead tests and start-up, and the role evolves into Construction and Commissioning Supervisor.

  • Beyond: you supervise several sites, train the site supervisors who follow you and contribute to the design of future units.

Profile

Must-have

  • Two- or three-year technical degree (industrial maintenance, electrical engineering, thermal engineering, works management, etc.), with at least 3 years of site management in an industrial environment. Solid field experience without the corresponding degree will be considered.

  • Reading drawings: layouts, piping isometrics, electrical diagrams, P&IDs.

  • Background in mechanical assembly, piping and lifting, and basics in low-voltage electricity and instrumentation.

  • Proven ability to run a site alone and manage subcontractors, with exposure to testing and start-up.

  • Driving licence (B) and CACES R489 category 3. Other certifications are funded from day one.

  • Strong safety culture. Professional proficiency in French; basic English appreciated.

  • Assets: steam networks, pressure equipment, refractories and industrial furnaces, ICPE sites.

Soft skills

  • Genuine autonomy: you will often be Epyr's only representative on site.

  • Hands-on attitude: no task is beneath you.

  • Natural authority: you set more experienced counterparts straight without antagonizing them.

  • Rigor in documentation: on a construction site, what is not written does not exist.

  • Pragmatic and comfortable making decisions based on incomplete information.

  • Keen to build standards rather than inherit them.

Practical details

  • Location: Paris, with temporary relocation to project sites in France, 5 days a week and return home every weekend.

  • Team: Industrialization, working in tandem with the Epyr project manager.

  • Contract: permanent, fixed-term or freelance contract.

  • Start date: Q1 2027.

  • Languages: French; technical English appreciated.

  • Compensation: competitive, with long-distance travel and site allowances.
